General Education Development Test
The GED test is a series of four subject test that certifies. high school level education and is an alternative to a traditional high school diploma.
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Reasoning Through Language Arts
- Science
- Social Studies
FRIDAY
Postsecondary Education Readiness Test
The PERT test includes reading, writing and math. There are 30 questions per section. Although not a timed test, it takes about one hour per section to complete. A Study Guide is available here or visit Academic Support Center.
There is a 7 day wait before retesting. Students are encouraged to remediate before retesting. There is no limit to the number of attempts.
A Valid photo ID is required for all exams. Acceptable forms include:
- Current driver license
- Current Federal or State issued ID
- Current High School ID
- Current FPTC Student ID
Test of Adult Basic Education
TABE is an achievement test that measures basic skills in Reading, Language ad Mathematics. The complete battery takes approximately four hours.
- Reading: 100 Minutes
- Language: 55 Minutes
- Math: 65 Minutes
A Valid photo ID is required for all exams. Acceptable forms include:
- Current driver license
- Current Federal or State issued ID
- Current High School ID
- Current FPTC Student ID
Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems
If you are a student entering a Career and Technical Education Program (CTE) the CASAS test is used to determine basic skill level achievement required by the department of education. If you are a GED student, the CASAS math and reading test are used for placement in the Adult Education class. Your scores will let you know where to begin instruction.
CASAS requires a three month waiting period before retesting.

Test of Essential Academic Skills
TEAS is a multiple choice exam that assesses a students readiness for nursing and allied health programs. The TEAS is made up of 170 multiple-choice questions. Study guides can be purchased at most book stores, or online. Students preparing may also find Mometrix Test Preparation helpful.
